"I just want peace" is the common thread of concern we hear from couples.
The natural response to conflict in marriage is to engage in heated discussion and purge unkind words. However our response should be to find a way to obtain peace IN the conflict.
"Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God"
(Matthew 5:9 NIV)
Peacemakers make peace!
Peace making is more than ignoring problems and avoiding conflict. It's about taking the opportunity to infuse a less than favorable situation with unity: the ability to become united. A peacemaker is defined as one who restores peace through reconciliation.
"Make every effort to keep yourselves united in the Spirit, binding yourselves together with peace" (Ephesians 4:3 NLT)
Finding peace in the conflict then is to become the peacemaker and through the help of the Lord it is possible.
